Joan Lovett, the visionary behind Lovett Studios, has revolutionized textile breakdown and special effects costume arts in British Columbia and across Canada. Since 1987, Joan has provided her creative services to well over 150 different productions, and takes great pride in the teams and relationships she has built. During her fruitful career, Joan has contributed her artistry to productions such as Batwoman, The Last of Us, Stargate, Snowpiercer and Deadpool. Known for her mentorship and dedication, Joan has cultivated a legacy that continues through her daughters, Sage and Chance Lovett, who also shine in the industry.
Anthea Mallinson, the driving force behind The Dye Dept., has not only elevated the role of textiles in film and TV for decades but also played a key role in developing Capilano University’s Costume for Stage & Screen Program, shaping the next generation of artists. A longtime educator, Anthea has guided countless artists, pushing the boundaries of natural dyeing and tapestry weaving. As a well established Key Textile Artist in Vancouver, Anthea's fine works can be seen in productions such as The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, (2021 CAFTCAD Award for Excellence in Textiles), Snakes on a Plane, Chronicles of Riddick and Catwoman.
With decades of experience, their distinct contributions have shaped the look and feel of countless productions, leaving an indelible mark on the industry. Beyond their exceptional artistry, both Joan and Anthea have been dedicated mentors and teachers, inspiring generations of creators to push the boundaries of their craft.
